Episodes of The ABC of Digital Literacy with Kikoriki receive around 12 million views

In late 2019, YouTube premiered a new cycle with the Kikoriki – The ABC of Digital Literacy for junior students of Russian schools abroad. The project implementation was backed by the grant programme of Rossotrudnichestvo as part of the federal project Human Resources for Digital Economy within the scope of Digital Economy of the Russian Federation nationwide programme.

The new cycle of the ABCs is comprised of 7 two-dimensional episodes about adventures of popular ballooned characters, in a child-friendly manner informing the children about digital content consumption, as well as safe, responsible and efficient use of digital technology and online resources. The total views of the shown episodes from the ABC of Digital Literacy with Kikoriki nearly reached 12 million. Users gave 130,000 likes to three-minute-long cartoons.

Altogether, a project co-maintained by Rossotrudnichestvo and the National Children’s Foundation gave life to 7 animation episodes and 3 video lessons for digital literacy classes among school students. Webinars for employees of Russian schools abroad – in Kazakhstan, Italy and the Czech Republic – were also held in late 2019 by the Childhood Institute at the Herzen RGPU, a partner to the project.

The mission of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) is to secure Russia’s geopolitical interests by promoting cultural exchange, education and new technologies as well as to build strong relations and cooperation worldwide at the highest level of professionalism, efficiency and sustainability. The events are held as part of the Personnel for Digital Economy federal project in line with the national programme Digital Economy of the Russian Federation.
