A project for digital transformation of general education has been launched at TSU

TSU launched an international project named “Improvement of Digital Literacy of School Students and Preparation of Teacher Teams for the Digital Transformation of Education” aimed at digitisation of school educational in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Vietnam and Russia. The project is operated by the Institute of Innovations in Education REC with the support from Rossotrudnichestvo.

The employees of TSU use the experience of internationalisation of education and unique solutions developed by the university for deployment of digital educational technologies. Their work will be aimed at arrangement of high-quality transition to the new didactics of the educational process and development of network programmes for students and teachers in three partner countries.

— On-site sessions of TSU which were held in late September in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan confirmed the relevance of the programmes for long-term development of education which effectively use the potential of digital technologies in partner countries, says Deputy Prorector of TSU for Educational Activities, Elena Sukhanova. — Today, the project is focused on digital technologies to develop individual educational paths for students, build new competencies in teachers and administrative workers of schools, create an open educational environment and big data-based management.

As expected, the international TSU project for digital transformation of general education will encompass bout 740 school students, 700 teachers and 174 administrative workers of educational institutions. Cooperation with two Vietnamese schools will start with an online programme in the English language. In late 2019, an on-site session will be arranged in Vietnam.

The digital educational platform will be used to deliver training courses for school students to shape up conscious digital behaviour, build digital literacy skills and develop individual projects. My Digital Educational Project will allow the school students to develop their own digital product on the basis of the Exterium educational environment, and teachers can learn the basic practice of supporting the project work of children..

Administrators of educational institutions will get a series of consultations for development of digital transformation management projects based on the resources for cooperation on the regional, national and international levels. Besides, an intramural strategic session will be arranged for teachers and administrators of schools, and competent consultation with experts. After completion of the educational programmes an expert session of projects for school transformation will be held.

Teams of teachers will be offered the Advanced Training Programme called “Digital Transformation of School: Strategy, Network Projects and New Competencies” with a modular structure after which the participants will be awarded certificates of advanced training at TSU (72 hours).

Background: The project named “Improvement of Digital Literacy of School Students and Preparation of Teacher Teams for the Digital Transformation of Education” is being implemented with the support from the Federal Agency for Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Residing Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) and is aimed at improvement of digital literacy of school students, teachers and administrative workers of schools.

The project involves the divisions of TSU engaged in the educational innovations sphere: Institute of Innovations in Education REC, Centre for Development of Modern Competencies in Children and the Youth, Online Education Institute, International Relations Division and New Recruitment Division of TSU.
