A Russian AI development for the Cyber Book was demonstrated in Kazakhstan
The team of programmers of KIBER STRANA ANO presented their artificial intelligence (AI) solution called Uma which was developed under the Digital Talents project with the support from the grant programme of Rossotrudnichestvo. The presentation was held at the Nursultan Nazarbayev Educational Foundation.

Uma is a digital assistant of the Cyber Book. The main task of the book is to teach PC game programming to children while playing in two years with the use of artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality. The underlying learning principle is based on gamification that allows to digest the material 30% faster. The Cyber Book educational programme is implemented with the support from the Rossotrudnichestvo grants: the grants were awarded to 27 organisations, including KIBER STRANA ANO.
“We analyse the biological articles using the NLP method (note: neuro-linguistic programming). One of the Uma’s functions is communication support in messengers. This AI functions allows an event to be arranged by one person only. All dialogues inside a messenger where the work is being done are recorded by the dictaphone. Thereafter, the audio records will be uploaded to the Uma’s intelligence to make her learn to identify goals, tasks and wishes of the partner in conversation”, says Vadim Kolesnikov, Uma’s producer.
Uma is meant to reduce the burden on the teachers by automating similar questions asked by students. The questions that Uma is unable to answer will be forwarded to the teacher. Uma AI has a photorealistic avatar and is capable of recognising voice data and selecting the most appropriate answer.
Pre-trained neural networks of Uma are currently being trained by more than 200 participants of the online AI hackathon arranged by KIBER STRANA ANO.
