The virtual format allows the laboratory research work to be conducted at real classes and online, thus engaging foreign educational institutions and disseminating the best Russian practices throughout the world.

As part of the project, digital competencies are being integrated into the process of education in Material Engineering and Composite Technology which are deemed to be popular engineering professions. Today, the composite market is growing fast and form an integral part of the Industry 4.0 which implies integration of the digital technologies into the production process. This technology transformation requires knowledge of information technologies from the engineers.

A composite world cup and laboratory research work in a virtual format is proposed to be arranged and held to solve the most urgent problems. Competitions held in the virtual environment will also promote development of the digital literacy of the youth and shape up flexible skills in students. The VR format of the competition allows to reduce the number of venues required to install the laboratory and training equipment due to the use of computer simulation; it ensures safety of the event without the use of expensive equipment and harmful chemicals.
